Boat designers have an amazing talent for making the most out of space. This 30-foot example manages to include more couch space than many homes have. They tempt you to sit with a cool drink and enjoy the ocean views. This 30-foot SeaRay SDX 290 is advertised as among the most luxurious deck boats in its class. Its deep-V hull and wide “carried-forward” beam let you seat more friends in the oversized bow and huge cockpit, yet maintain a smooth, stable ride and great handling. As far as entertainment goes, a Fusion stereo system comes standard, as does the wet bar to starboard behind the helm and love seat. The bow cockpit is massive, with forward-facing back rests on the consoles and a filler insert to create wraparound seating. The deep freeboard and stainless-steel grab rails keep everyone safe. The head (aka toilet) in the port console is large for a boat this size, which should reduce claustrophobia when answering the call or changing for a dip. The captain’s seat and portside companion seat are both double-wide, with backrests that can be adjusted to face aft when the boat is at rest. Your favorite seats on the boat may well be the aft-facing his-and-hers lounges on the engine compartment. Each has adjustable back rests and is a great place to prep for watersports or, especially, to chill while at anchor. If that’s not your thing, there are plenty of other seats to choose from.
